If there was one thing that I knew I had to memorize after the leadership conference this year, this would be it.
I’ll probably print this one on a shirt.
SKYRIM IS MY VALENTINE
These are dumb why did I make them
I want a shirt with this printed on it.

… when you just have to drop everything, stay still, be quiet, and listen to God.
1 Kings 19:11-14
11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
And that’s a lesson I’m still trying to learn up to this day. Keeping still and just listening to Him.

When I was a kid, I grew up thinking that Job was one of the “big” names beside Moses, Elijah, David, Abraham and the “bible big men of faith”.
You have Moses, who guided the Israelite nation out of Egypt, who did wonders in front of both Pharaoh and the Israelites, who literally broke the ten commandments but still had God’s favor. Elijah, who talked down an errant king and was taken to heaven in a flaming chariot. David, who fought against Israelites enemies, who was chased after a disgraced king and eventually causing the most celebrated (if not used) mistake (and example) any follower of God can do. Then you have Abraham, who was blessed and tested by God since he went away from His father’s land, who wrestled with the Lord. I haven’t even mentioned here the disciples, the other prophets, the judges and of course, Paul.
So considering all those things, the story of Job’s life to me was tame and dull. Yet God acknowledged Job’s righteousness (Job 1:8) and his life was used as an example of a man persevering in the faith (James 5:11). I mean I knew his story and all and could recount it to anyone in less than 5 minutes. So I wondered, what made Job so great?
It was only this year, through the bible-in-a-year schedule of the church I’m attending that I finally read through the whole book. I finally found out in my own eyes why he was put at such a high stool by God. I also realized that I, in essence have a life more like job than any of the other characters of faith. My life didn’t resemble any of the lives of those I “men of faith that I mentioned- even of those that weren’t mentioned. I was just an ordinary man… No wars, no battles, no big enemies, no leading of a nation. It’s just me, trying to face everyday struggles.
So in retrospect my life is so much like Job. Yet he was able to be steadfast on his faith with God. amidst the situation he was in he never dishonored God. Yes, he complained a lot, but who wouldn’t though? Just think, he lost everything, his children, his money, his properties, his wife and even his health. Yet he still acknowledged God as the sovereign all powerful God.
I thought about it, and funnily enough, his life has a higher chance of happening to me. Will I be able to stand by my faith and still trust God after all that that? Will I still acknowledge God as the my Lord and Savior after losing everything?
Right now, to be honest I can’t say that I can. However, I know that when the time comes that He would test me like Job. I know that that’d be the day when I’d have a faith like Him.
And I don’t think any bible character can get any more real than that to me.

Maybe you’d also like to know the other men of faith in a more personal way? Maybe this can help.

Day 10 - Best game play
In the realm of SRPGs, I would say FFT has the best gameplay. In terms of character customization (in skills) tactics had the most robust job system (for its time). Tactic’s also had an auto adjust difficulty setting where there is no easy battle since as you level up, the monsters you meet would have the same level as you. Well, in the original version this would only apply to random battles whereas the story mode skirmishes didn’t adjust.
Black March.
Makes more sense than the cannons.
People should do this if they really want to kill SOPA/PIPA….
… is really a great way to start the day. Even if I wasn’t able to wake up at 5:00 A.M. I forced myself to wake my sleepy eyes and do my devotions for the day. Even if I wasn’t satisfied with my moment since mom kept bugging me all the way through.
My usual dreary morning commute was more colorful than most days. The often replayed tracks on my cellphone suddenly brought me more joy and energy. And basically everything seemed positive for me regardless of the tasks and of the “negative” circumstances that came my way.
This all started when I rescheduled my daily devotions in the A.M. I used to do it in the morning, but then I decided it’s too troublesome to wake up in the morning so I opted for evening devotions.
When I was pondering this, I thought that this goes well with the whole concept of “loving” God. I mean while, it can be said that it’s easier to do devotions in the PM and that at least you won’t miss a single devotion, but the whole point of doing devotions and your quiet time is to talk with God and not just merely “attending” your devotion/quiet time like some sort of class.
Wouldn’t it be more meaningful if you did put effort with your times in God? Wouldn’t that be a sign that you love Him enough to push away your drowsy self from your comfy bed and spend some time with the one who made us?
Of course I’m not saying that those who really can’t make their devotions in the morning are any less of a lover of God. Since the Lord looks more into the heart of man than on anything else… It’s just that it really feels different if you do your devotions/quiet time in the morning.
I’ll leave this right here…
